Interim injunction prevents logging

1. The Supreme Court granted an interim injunction.

2. Damages were not appropriate in this case as their purposes are to financially restore or compensate the plaintiff. In this case, something is needed to prevent the harm from occurring in the first place. Injunctions have the power to prevent a defendant from doing something. Damages would not prevent the logging and would not prevent the possible loss of the threatened species. Any species that were to become extinct could not be restored by damages.

3. Purposes of damages that an injunction fulfils in this caseincludepreventing the harm from occurring in the first place and preventing further harm from occurring.
